I have a 28 gallon NanoCube with 150 watt HQI MH. This puts out great light, but even with the fans, my tank goes up to 83 degrees. If I run the lights for 5 hours, have them off for 3 hours, then back on for 5 hours, I can keep it between 79.5 and 81.5. I was wondering if this cycle would be bad for the inhabitants, or if it would be fine. I have the 4 LED moon lights on when the MH is off.

Thanks

Personally, I would let the lights run their full photoperiod one time than to interrupt it like you are. You want to as much as possible immitate nature. I had a 24gal aquapod with the same lighting (150w hqi) and to control my temp, I used an external fan on a timer and had the fan turn on and off periodically through out the day which allowed me to keep my temp where I wanted it. I had to figure out how long I needed the fan on and off for because if I left it on too long, the tank would get too cool and if off too long, the tank would heat up too much, but it didn't take long at all to figure out and worked perfectly for me
