Hungry Crabs

I was always a little bumbed that my live rock didn't look like those in the pictures you see. Mine looked bleached and dead. I just added a new, colorful piece of live rock into the tank. Within one day the crabs have stripped pretty much everything off the rock. Is that normal? Does that kill off the rock? Thanks.

No, it does not kill off the rock; but I'm sure that the rock finds it humiliating to be stripped such.
Your crabs are doing what crabs do. If they are doing something that goes against what you want going on in your tank, you can pull them out.
