What does your maintenance/husbandry schedule look like?

Mine consisted of:

• 10-15% water change every week

• Clean glass walls every week

• Empty skimmer cup every day

• Clean sump once a month

• Change carbon every week

• Change phosphate media every 3 months (Julian Sprungs formula)

• Manually top off water every day

• Manually dose the tank every 1-2 days (if I can remember correctly) with calcium and alk

• Test water weekly

• Clean pumps once every 2 months depending on how they look

• I ran bare bottom tanks so no sand to vacuum and I didn't use sponges/filtersocks/filter pads etc. so I never needed to change or clean them.

Okay, dont yell at me for my tank maintenance. It works for me so far so good.
20% water change every 5-7 weeks
carbon change once a month
change phosphate media once every 6-8 months...that reminds me...
empty skimmer once or twice a week
manually top off twice daily
clean pumps every 5-6 months, sooner on the return pump if I notice the flow is really low.
clean skimmer pumps when the skimmer starts acting up.
never cleaned the sump since it was set up 2.5yrs ago - I have critters cleaning up in there. They keep the macro trimmed back too.
syphon very shallow sand bed two, maybe three times a year.
test water every couple months

Hey Lorrie, if it works for you then that's all that matters. Just proves there is no one set way to go about things. The 4 week carbon though :nono: :lol:. I think I remember reading that after the first 24-48 hours, carbon exhausts itself, not 100% sure.

Tuesday....acknowledge tank
Wednesday.....feed tank...nod at tang
Thursday....add water to ATO, acknowledge tank...
Friday.....acknowledge tank
Saturday...clean glass, feed tank...acknowledge tang
Sunday....have a 45 minute thunderstorm to mess with fish and keep them on their toes (fins?)
