I saw Mark (skimmerwhisperer) mention this skimmer to another member and so I decided to do some digging up on it and this skimmer is not a bad idea for those with all-in-one tanks that have to have a skimmer sit internally even in the tank itself. It actually looks just like a built in overflow when it is sitting in the tank. Pretty cool!! You don't have to worry about it not fitting in a back compartment to use it (although it only has a 3.125 x 3.125 footprint). Kinda looks neat sitting in the tank for those that only have that option available. Just thought I'd pass on what was passed on :)

Here is a little write up with pictures on it
Hydor’s Slim Skim Nano is about as stealth as an internal skimmer can be

And not a bad price tag either

i really like the innovative way this pump injects air and completely shreads it into tiny tiny bubbles...
and i like that you can fit these in a nano and have them just look like an overflow box.
i need to buy one to play with. planning another nano anyway. :)

I wish I knew if this thing would fit in any of the nano/biocubes but so far every application I've seen, people have them in their tanks. Guess it won't be long before we find out. Would be so easy if I could actually go somewhere where I could see these things in person. That way I'd know exactly what I am dealing with. I am planning out a new system again and I'm sea sick from all of the browsing and researching I've been doing and still no decision! Seems like it will come down to me custom building something because it seems like the only way to get what I really want. :)

Yea, that's what I was thinking besides maybe the JBJ HQI nano and the HQI Aquapods that has either the open backs or tops. All the closed lid ones I think the collection cup would hit. :)

I am in the process of putting together a 29 biocube. I was actually looking at which skimmer to put in the tank and ran across this thread. I just ran out to the garage to measure and skimmy is right about a small amount of dremel work. The skimmer (nano version) is 3 1/8" x 3 1/8". It would need about 1/4" +/- to fit. Height is no problem. I am really interested in this unit now. I was looking at the Tunze 9002 and was just told about the Aqua Life Mini 115 mini skimmer and it seems to have good results. I was leaning towards the Tunze because I want to put a refugium in the stand and this skimmer works up to 50 Gal. Any feed back on either of these skimmers?

Just wanted to let you guys know that I "bit the bullet" and just ordered the Hydor nano slim skim for my 29 biocube. I will let you know how it goes and the mod's that I had to do to make it fit. I don't think that there will be too many based on the size.......Hopefully! We'll see! I should get it sometime next week. Just got done building my custom stand and waiting for the other items to come so I can get this thing up and running!

Sweet. I will be interested too as we have a 34g solana and need to put a skimmer in the chamber in back. I haven't broke out the tape measure yet to see if this little guy will fit yet though but still keep up posted on what you find.

I will let you know how it goes. I'll see if I can post a few pics of what I had to do and how it fits. I know the biocube is different in the back from your tank but hopefully it'll help with your mod if you go that route. I will have to dremel off some of the lip off the rim edge of the tank to make it slip in but I should have plenty of room once it gets past that. At least according to my pre-measured calculations that is.
