okay so i have a ton of either red bugs or red lfat worms in my refugium. im affraid to use the macro in my tank to feed my tangs. they just appeared in my refugium. shoul i just remove all the macro and treat it in a seperate container? i dont want to treat in the tank. there are no signs of them in my main display tank. i will see if i can get some pictures.

Do you have pictures?
Red bugs and flat worms are sugnificantly different types of critters.
google search each one and see if you can figure out which one it is. There are different treatments for each one.

I would suspect you are talking about flat worms. Red bugs are typically found only on acrapora coral.

You can remove the macro and do a coral rx dip to get rid of a majority of the flatworms.

If it's in your refugium it's red planaria flatworms aka "red menace." Actually great if you can contain them to the refugium, as they eat up detritus and other junk. I'm willing to bet they're in your main display as well. :(

well i havent seen them in there. i would like to feed my tangs the macro algae are they a threat to corals?

Yes they are a threat to corals. They will cover and smother them.
Depending on what fish you have in your tank, they might be getting eaten.

Red bugs are so tiny, you will never see them unless: you know what to see, have good eyes or a magnifying glass, and are looking on acropora. With red planaria, for every one you notice there are 50-100 you don't see. When you start to notice large quantities, they have become endemic. If that happens, it's a sign of excess nutrients and needing better maintanence. Flatworm exit per directions or stronger and longer works well. If it is not yet a problem, don't sweat it as they are mostly harmless. Some wrasses will eat them

Ummm the flat worms ( Red Planaria) I've seen on my glass move pretty dang fast. I've see them move and they not moving after any eggs ;)

Don't see how that could even be possible.
Flatworms are very slow, and copepods can move fairly fast.

Saw a ravenous school of Olympic grade planaria begin chase :plane: , fight :fencing: and consume :hungry: an adult Hippo tang down to the bone. Was a very scary sight.

Hmmmm, perhaps my meds need adjusting

As of right they are in my refugium. I have not seen them in my tank I've been looking for them for the past couple weeks sometime around 1- 3 AM. They are clearly visible on my refugium to through out the day and night anytime I look in my refugium they're all over my macro algae. As soon as I get the battery charged up for my camera I'll try to take some shots of them to see if you guys can clearly identify them
