Especially those that have a setup that does automatic waterchanges. This afternoon was just so fun. First I shleped 4 5gal containers up from the garage to the room where the fish are about 13 steps. Then I made a detrus storm with the maxijet. Then siphoned 15 gal. of water out carried that to toilet (5 gal at a time) Then had to climb up on a stool and lift each 40 lb. container as high as my shoulders and pour it in. So how many lbs. is that? 320lbs. That can't be right!!:confused:

A pump, some hose, and some imagination can make water changes a piece of cake. I would do 150 gal water changes on my big system in about 15-20 minutes and only had to lift a 5-10lb hose.

Grrrrrrrr  I need some big strong man to come over and show me how rig something like that up :D. Oh yea I'm married

Deb,
I bought a 600 gph pond pump at walmart for pretty cheap and a piece of clear (vinyl?) tubing that fits on the end (I use the same tube to siphon out the water). Get yourself a power strip with a switch and then plug in the powerstrip with the switch off, plug your pump into it, drop pump into the bucket and put the end of hose in the tank and flip the switch on the power strip, as you reach the end of the bucket, flip the switch off (pull end of hose above water level to prevent back siphoning) and move the pump to the next bucket and repeat. Well worth it to not have to lift bucket to pour the water in the tank. I used to do that too. I also have a husband but he is somewhat reluctant about this hobby so I try to do as much as I can by myself:D I can do a water change in a little less than a 1/2hour, of course I do not have to lug my water upstairs . . . :rolleyes:HMMM hundred foot hose, pump water from downstairs to upstairs . . .:doubt::lol:

Kris

yes the long hose could be a problem :| and as you said so well reluctant is a good word to use when it comes to my hobby-passion for my tank. He gets upset if water drips on the carpet or the TOWELS on the carpet!
