We got this as a donation from someone and we are sorry to say we can't remember who since we have had so many generous reefers give us stuff lately. It truly has been amazing and will be repeated by us to newbies as soon as we can frag stuff out. We also can not figure out what it is so we can find out where to place it in the tank. Can anyone ID this really cool little piece?

Hey Eric, more than likely it is GSP (Briareum) less likely to be Pipe Organ (Tubipora) but now you can Google it to see the difference.

As Todd suggested, absolutely 100% GSP. Was just kidding on tha Majanos. Briareum is a fun coral, a good nutrient consumer and easy to keep. They grow fairly fast but can be kept where you want it. Often growing along the back of the tank looks cool. It is a strong competitor and produces a lot of chemical for warfare so when it gets over a few inches across, best to run some carbon. I have grown purple star polyps in almost every tank have owned in last 8 years including SPS dominated reefs.
