Impeller Rotation

If an impeller stops when you rotate it and can only go in the opposite directiin, does it need replacement?

How do you know which direction it it turning?

Impellers are just screwed on to a shaft that spin freely in either direction. Find the make and model number and you can probably find an exploded diagram online.
