Interceptor dosage?

Well I am ready to begin treatment on my tank, however I do not want to have to treat 3 times I feel as if a stronger dose would be less stressful on my system then 3 treatments all together. with that said I have a 120 gallon total volume tank, what is the recomended dose and would it be safe to go stronger then the recomended dose?

Matt, the last time I treated my 120g for red bugs I used 1 11.5mg interceptor tab. That is for 180g of tank water volumn. I have not see 1 red bug since. I did 1 treatment.

did you have hermits, other crabs and any shrimp. if so how did they do?

Hi Matt. IME/IMO you will always observe a big decline in 'pods'. However, my 'pod' population went right back up without a starter pod culture in about 2 months. Either some survived, or which...I'm not sure.

In my two treatments when I had my SPS tank, my cleaner shrimp died :| . It died after the second treatment, which was the same dosage as the first (slightly overdose of about 1.25x recommended).

Matt, my cleaner shrimp did fine. As did all my snails, my blue legs kind of were stunned but came back after a day or so. No other crabs. My pods didn't take too big of a hit, but like Ilham said they came back in no time. My mandarin didn't miss any meals.

Cool those are things I am looking to hear. I am a bit nervous about the whole ordeal but knowing that it isnt a 100% sure fact thet the shrimps and crabs will die is a bonus to me.....

One more question. Is your tank total volume 120 or just the display? mine is 120 total volume, so would 11.5mg be safe?

I have treated for red bugs several times in two different systems. DO THE TREATMENT AT LEAST TWICE! I have never seen it work in my tanks or several other friends systems when only done a single time. Wait two weeks and nuke em again! If you are going to the trouble of killing them then do it right. Several of my friends thought that they got them with one treatment only to notice them two months later munching away.

I had several hermits appear to be dead and then miraculusly come back to life 4-5 days after the treatment. Overdosing will probably kill the hermits and not stun them into a coma.

Matt, my tank is a 120g and my sump is a 30g. I'm not sure of actual total water volumn. FWIW, the last time I treated for red bugs was last summer, with 1 dose and have not had 1 red bug show back up.
