Having witnessed the local removal of reef fish for a number of years now through blast fishing, traps and nets, I can relate to the damage being done. What none of the so called "fishermen" ever realize is that the removal of the herbivores along with blowing the corals up creates the perfect conditions for algae to become dominant and such degraded reefs lose their food producing ability. Shooting themselves in the foot in other words.
