Internal Overflow Level

I am setting up my 100 gallon corner tank and curious what is the best level to set the internal overflow at? I want to set the length (height) of the internal drain standpipe. I can't see how it matters. If I set it low, the water just falls further and may be noisy.

When I made my durso stand pipes up I made them so the the middle of the pvc tee is only about 2 inches from the top of the overflow box. The water only falls a short distance and there is little or no noise.

Ditto, I kept mine fairly close to the top to keep it quieter!
