on IO salt mix i know that calc/alk is a bit low anyone mix 5 gals. and have a regimen on how many addetives to add in for it to be right on? mixed at 35ppt

if not ill be testing it soon just wondering if someone has allready done the work lol since IO salt is all the same i would hope...

My 2 cents.

IO salts will vary from one bucket to another. In my end, i am low in calcium side. I add 4 tsp seachem calcium and 1 tsp seachem alk just to make it balance and up to par. But that is in my 5 gallon newly IO salt mix.

You need to test the water so you know how far you should add.

Some people just balance it and not bring it to par since they have calcium reactor to cope with the shortcomings.

Here is my note to check if its balance or not.

Also, you may need to ask Boomer, but he mentioned before that you need to make it balanced before you add it to your tank. Everytime I do this it makes my new mix cloudy. Maybe Im doing wrong or maybe thats the way it is. But what I do now is not add it to the new mix but drip it to the tank after I add the newly mixed salt.
Hope this helps.

I was using kent turbo cal to bump it up slightly but never a lot, If I got close to 400ppm I'd let it go. I recently switched to Reef Crystals & so far every batch test around 400ppm already so I leave it alone, I don't have high ca demands just yet. If I was supplementing it wouldn't be far off to adjust. I've found Dr. Fosters & Smith a 160g bucket for $34 plus $14 shipping, very reasonable.

For the most part IO is low in Ca and Mg alk is usually about perfect if not a little high. The only thing Ive seen a variance in is alk over the last 181 buckets it ranged from 10 to 12.5 dkh.
