im new to SPS and got quite a few frags in my new tank that i recently got..everything seems to have great polyp extension day/night and my cali tort is getting darker since i got it but for some reason the tips of a few of then are getting lighter in color not white but just a bit lighter...there is no predators in the tank all i have at the moment in tank is fairy flasher wrasse, yasha hashi goby, 3 pepermint shrimp and cleanup crew

everything tests out good aside from nitrate...

PH- 8.3
alk - 9dkh
calc. 420
nitrite- 0
nitrate -15 (trying to get this down 'new tank')
amonia- 0
phos - 0
temp- 79-80

ive been running carbon and changing it out every week with weekly 5gal. waterchange. It seems to be the few that are a bit higher in the tank 1/3 top of the tank the rest of the tips arent lighter....the light i have on it is a 150w 14k pheonix (3 months old) with (4) 24w T5 attinics this is over a 32 gallon that is 24in deep and hung about 4-5 in off the tank.

dont think this has anything to do with it but i get quite a bit of micro bubbles from the new skimmer i know that this is considered a myth but is it at all possible for it to hurt anything? ive read alot about it and it seems to be a busted myth but just double checking with you guys also

Hello,
Many stony corals (especially Acropora sp.) can grow faster than the zooxanthellae can reproduce. This results in the new growth tips being lighter or a different color (most commonly blue).

Kevin
