I use it for my overflow and return pump. No problems yet. Just make sure that you get a good primer and glue.

yup, perfectly safe. All my plumbing is PVC from lowes. Schedule 40 (white) or schedule 80 (gray) work. The white stuff is a bit tougher though. Some adapters, etc. I was only able to get in schedule 80

The difference in the two is the pressure, temp rating, color and wall thickness. 80 is stronger than 40.

Yes they are fine for your fish and Yes Don is right some shedual 80 plubming doesn't fit right in shedual 40 fittings

I HIGHLY doubt you'll need Sch 80 pipe.. the 40 is fine you won't have a high enough presur pump to blow it out!
