Hey guys,

I found this in my refugium today... It looks like a whelk to me but I wanted some opinions from the community before I banished it to my septic.

Any chance to get a shot at the underside? Almost looks like the eyes of some sort of conch poking out of the shell, but hard to tell... :)

Thanks for your reply! Well I tried to get a good shot of the little guys undercarriage but he just won't cooperate. Every time I flip him he retracts into his shell. I have attached a little better shot but I'm not sure it will be enough to identify him. At a second glance he has two other identical friends scavenging with him as well. I really don't see eyes sticking out anywhere from what I can tell.

Thanks for the feedback, after reading a bit more it could be one of many things (none of them look to be "reef safe"). It seems to be such a fine line between good and bad. Better to be safe then sorry I guess.

I was thinking conch too.. Sometimes I think they are called fighting conch.
