I just set up a new Solana tank (pictures soon I hope) and put everything in the tank last night. Went down this morning to check the tank and found my lawnmower blenny on the carpet. He made it out of an opening not much bigger than his body, nice shot. I estimate he was out for and hour or two, based on his body wetness. He looked dead, but I held him in front of a power head to get water moving across his gills, and he half heartedly swam away and sat on the bottom. This afternoon he was still alive, but I think has some brain damage from the ordeal, we will see if he makes it! Those blennies can be tough little guys! :D

you are so lucky . I lost my jumper. one close call and then two day later I found him again on the floor.

I think you might be right! He is still alive, but just kinda hanging out in the corner of the tank, doesn't seem quite right yet.

I hope it makes it!!! Putting it in front of the powerhead probably saved it's life!! So now you'll have Woootarded Blenny.

Heres the funny thing, I just got a new solana tank, complete glass cover except for the two front corners, just enough to get a finger under the glass to lift it up, he had to have gone straight up in the corner to make it out, pretty impressive jump, although the corner may have guided him somewhat.

I was telling returnofsid, I think he will make it as long as he remembers how to eat, which I am not sure he does

do you have any eggcrate you can put over the top of your tank?

Don't know, but I guess any fish that is spooked and in a new home can jump, as long as it has the capabilities of swimming fast enough to breach the top of the tank. My dragon faced pipe fish, not worried about.:D

Of, and if I have to spoon feed this guy he won't make it.

So..I hate to ask a perhaps dumb question, but are blenies known for jumping?

I almost took him out of the tank last night, still swimming from spot to spot, but then just sits on the sand. So I figured I wouldn't pull the plug on him just yet. He has 2/3 or the battle won, swimming and breathing, now if he could remeber hoe to eat he would have the trifecta! Have not seen him this morning, will check again tonight, but I have a bad feeling that he is hermit food!

How's the Wootard Blenny this morning?

RUH ROH...well, at least the Hermits still know how to eat. Seriously though, I do believe it'd be better if it went sooner, rather than later, IF it really is going to end up slowly starving to death anyway...(now not so seriously) since you refuse to spoon feed it and wipe it's drool.

Your'e right, sooner than later. But you never now, those guys can be alot tougher than we think.

Well, he did not make it, at least we both gave it a shot, I was beginning to think he just might make it.:(
