I'm begging to change the third Saturday to the 4th Saturday. Two reasons: Shilo's birthday (although we wanted to have a birthday cake at the picnic) but then along came a friend's wedding on the same day and we're invited and Shilo really wants to go.

Here's the start of the raffle.......... woohoo

From Brian at IAP:

Hello. I would be happy to do something for the raffle. Let me talk to Dave about the stand and canopy. (he does very nice work at good prices- he built the shark reefs stands and hoods) As far as the tank, worst case I would ask you guys to pay for material and donate the labor ect... The sump I can just flat out donate. I'll figure out a quote for a 3' cube. What kind of overflow, color of back, ect.. would you want? How tall for the tank? For a 36 x 36 x 24 cube, black back, center overflow, 3/4" material the normal wholesale price would be around $1200. The material (spartech polycast) costs $465. More than likely I can donate the top and bottom piece so if you guys paid for one full sheet of 3/4(aprox $350) I think that would work out fine. I'll get a quote from Dave and PM you later. Brian

So the tank at $350; free sump and a quote for furniture.

If we can get this ironed out, I want to start advertising on the evites and let people buy tickets all the time for this one set up.

Randy what about including a free ticket for this raffle to the new member packets. However, they must be present to win (the new members).

How about trying to have a fundraiser in the stores with a picture of the setup (have find a similar picture) and sell them there? Do you think we could pull that off?

I'm excited, can you tell?

Randy is going to post the excel sheet here. Mark is going to take a look as he wants to handle a couple vendors himself. Other than that we need to divide and conquer.

There is Randy, Ed, Shauna, Colleen and Mark we can all just split it up (once posted i'll divide and list our line numbers) and be off and running. Mark thinks cold calling them might be better, or if email we must follow up with a call a week later if we do not get a yes or no reply.

Mark is also going to handle all the local sponsors as we have not asked or begged for anything from any of them this year so we can hit them for the picnic.

We are off to a great start with IAP so let's keep rolling!!

Brian is AWESOME! Ok so its the fourth Saturday of June. I know I need to do some pimping. I think a 3 foot cube will raise a few brows. We have some good people that want to make this place rock. I will get on phone and try to contact RIO pumps again. I need to talk to you guys one on one so I have my ducks in a row. I have been so confused with work and kids sports. I need some catch up help.

Do we have any plans set in stone yet? We need to start really planning this out and hit the sponsors that haven't contributed yet.

I did try to contact Brian at IAP. Brian and I have been playing tag. I asked him about tank.

No sponsors have contributed. I am hoping Mark will take that on and I have the list of all the local sponsors for him.

I compiled a list of 150 or so vendors, I randomly cold called about 20 and got no where. Either transferred, or said sorry we don't donate any longer as there are too many clubs now to help them all. I did send out an email to every one and received a couple of gift certificates.

We need to deciide how much money we can afford to spend, we are at our all time low of $4500ish since I began being involved. I know sponsors will let us buy from them at cost, but what low price but good items to you think people would like? Usually there is so much dumb stuff donated, all the additives that people dont use anyway.

Perhaps we can start a list of items to purchase, and come up with a ball park price and go from there.

SalsaKing is good to go with the picnic at the salsa factory or his house. I think the plant is better because there is so much to look at. We will have the front and/or back to use. Just my thoughts.

We are into the picnic $350 for the tank.

FYI, I have received a box (I believe to be a donation to the picnic). Did you guys send out the same email that I used back a couple of years? If so it has my mailing address on it and I will be receiving presents for a while that someone will have to come retrieve.

Reed,
I am betting its from Seachem?
Ed

Nope Ed. It's actually Via Aqua. Here's a list of what they sent:

1 ACRO-Calcium Reactor AC-10
1 2600 Aqua Pump
1 NANO protien skimmer
1 Seio M1100
1 precision coral clipper

All in all a very generous package that deserves a thank you from the club.

Wow that's great. I didnt use the same letter. They must have not checked our address on file or something.

I'll come get it this weekend if you let me know a good time.

I tried calling Mark but his phone is not working.

I had an idea........ since we have been mulling over items to buy at cost for the picnic, what about keeping it simple and if we ask a sponsor for gift certificates... say they donate $200 in gift certificates, then the club will purchase another $100, that net is only $100 out of pocket so to speak.

It will make it simple for the picnic and be a lot of gift certificates to raffle.

I did contact Kevin Sho..etc from Comodity Axis. That is the same company.
Thats is strange.

Colleen,

If it is alright with you, I would prefer to wait until our child is born as I am basically "on call" right now. Either that or I can drop it by on my way home from work...just don't want to tell you a time and then go rushing off to the hospital.

That's fine just drop it on my porch anytime.

I can't believe how fast time went for you guys. Watch out the baby will turn into a teenager when you aren't looking. :)

Colleen,
It will be a bit longer before I can get the donations over to you. My wife and I introduced our new baby tonight and we will obviously have our hands full for a little bit. If I end up taking too long you can get a hold of me and swing by.
