I was wondering about coraline algae. My tank looked pretty barron for a while since I've not been able to add anything to it. Do I need to get a rock that has coraline algae already on it or could the purple on the rocks still be alive?
Also, everything I've read about coral beauty sngelfish is that you can have only one per tank. earlier this week I got a gift of two coral beauties and they follow each other around and don't bother anyone else. I just thought that was kind of neat.

Yes coraline needs to be introduced in order to spread. There might still be some alive on your rock somewhere but If I were you I'd get a nice purple encrusted piece to kick things off.If the rocks you have still have some purple on them you should be ok.

There is some purple on several rocks but they were mostly covered with hair algae so I wasn't sure if it would still be active.
