I have a KW2000, the type with a recirculating pump ... photo attached. I have a question about the amount of KW powder to place in the reactor. It seems the Kent Kalkwasser instructions assume a manual reactor, and thus a very tiny dose. What amout of KW powder to others use and how often to you replace it. I will be placing the recirculating pump on time for say 3-4 15-minute mixes per day. Thanks in advance.

I would look up the instructions for the reactor and it should tell you how much to use in those. I tried to find them, but no luck without the manufacturer's name.

For my TLF kw300 reactor, I put in about 2 heaping tablespoons a week, with a large bioload I could go up to maybe 4 tbsp twice a week maybe (that is what my instructions say.) My system is total maybe 120 gallons

You have to experiment with those to dial them in properly. So the concept is not to allow any powder in the mix to hit the tank or it will burn your corals. So put about a 1/4 of kalk powder on the bottom. turn the unit it on and see how long it takes for the powder to reach about 3/4 up the reactor. What ever time that is, is what the mix time will be. As per times per day I would do one in the morning a couple hours prior to the lights coming on and then one after the lights go off and then one last time in between those two times.

hope it helps

Mike
