That is one of the skimmers I see a LOT of people have trouble with. I don't know a fix for it but maybe....just...maybe skimmie will have some advice...... besides dump it!

I'd ask skimerwhisperer about possible mods. You may be able to mesh mod it. I used to have one on a servicing account. We scrapped the pump it came with and upgraded to a bigger pump. Thing worked better after that. Still left a lot to be desired. If I remember right we went with a Rio 3100. Not my favorite pump as far as reliability but it helped. Many will say to save the pump upgrade money and put it towards a better skimmer.

the thing with that skimmer is that it's not very upgradeable, because of the narrow neck size, the skimmer will never take much air...
sell it!!
you dont have to spend a fortune these days to get a good skimmer...

I currently have a mag 7 big enough? What is the mesh mod?

Mags are notoriously bad pumps for skimmers, IMO. They run hot and noisy.

Like skimmy said, the neck is to small, so even if you get good amounts of air in there it won't be able to handle it. A mag isn't going to help the cause and neither will mesh.
