Good day everyone,

After getting feed back about metal halide and the leds as much as I love good old MH lighting I am thinking for what I am dealing with leds are probably the better way to go.

I am trying to keep costs down where I can do I am wondering if 3 12” led fixtures would work or if I should go with 4 for more coverage. I have never delt with leds so I really don’t know the ins and outs of them.

I know with lighting more the marrier but like I said I am trying to keep costs down where I can and if I can still get a good amount of light with 3 rather then 4 and still have it be ok for my tank it’s $100 less that I can put towards other stuff that I need.

Any thoughts would be a great help.

Thanks

If it were my tank, I would do 4, two running lengthwise in the areas with less coral, and two running width wise concentrated over the most coral. (Most times this equates to two in the center) You get better depth penetration it seems running them width wise.
So, like this.

Going to leave your edges a bit dark, but if you scape with that in mind, you'd be fine. You could also of course add lights later to fill if you needed.
