Anyone have these in their reef tanks? I saw a tank with a couple of them today and the people love them. They said they don't have trouble with them, they just eat a bunch of algae. They don't have any SPS coral, but they have a Duncan and some hammers and a bunch of zoas. They sure are cool!

They are not the most hardy or durable fish in captivity..if u want a centropyge angel stick with flame angel

Hey Matt, IME the trick or method that has worked best for me with Centropyge species in a Reeftank is to feed well and have many corals. I think that all of the Angels will at least nip/sample your coral occasionally... it's in their nature. As far as hardiness goes I believe most to be quite hardy and collection procedures to be the determining factor to their survival rates. As I also always preach, try to purchase only juveniles. Better for the species as a sustainable population and for us Reefkeepers as to acclimating to prepared foods before they are set in their ways in the wild. Or purchase one that has been in captivity for a time.

Cheers, Todd

I'm sure not all fish are the same but when i got my 1st lemonpeel he was fine at first. Then i noticed he would swim up to the cleaner shrimp in the tank, eat their eyeballs and eventually kill and eat the shrimp. After killing 2 cleaner and 2 fire shrimp he jumped out of the tank and did some carpet surfing. Did not see him nipping at any corals though.

OK, maybe I'll stick to a yellow tang and a yellow coris if I want yellow in my tank! Don't really want an eyeball eating fish in there!

Your tanks looking good, by the way. The rock is very cool.

Oh Yeah I failed to notice you're in the Spokane area. Your rimless tank is looking amazing too. If you want Yellow there are yellow tangs, yellow coris wrasse, yellow watchman gobies, yellow clown gobies, yellow rabbit fish, yellow pigmy anglefish, and the canary blenny. I'm sure I'm missing a few.

IMO they are a crap shoot. Some will say OK, Most will say Not OK
+1 pygm angels are beautiful indeed but it's a gamble due to there nature, I have a Cherub in my tank now that's killed 5 fish in a 75 gallon tank because its so territorial.

Yup you have to feed them, I remember I put my emperor, and personifer angels w/ well fed, they don't touch your coral.
