Howdy,
I have a leopard wrasse that has been in my tank now for about 2.5 years. He is a very sociable fish, and can normally be seen swimming around the tank all day until the first lights start to go off. At that point, he retreats to the sand for sleep, and then I see him again next morning. That had been the routine for the last 2.5 years, until about two weeks ago when he never woke up. For 2 weeks, neither me nor my roommate saw the wrasse. He never came out for feeding time. I looked all around my tank for a a dried up "jumper," but didn't find anything. I figured my fish must have succumbed to some ailment and perished.
That was until today. I woke up to feed them, and the leopard wrasse is swimming around the tank like its no big deal. Can fish hibernate like that? He didn't look overly skinny when I saw him. I also don't see any aggression now that he is back. What is going on with my fish?
Peace,
Jesse
