Some of you may know Duane, RoyalPain, from Royal City, WA. He has accepted an Agriculture teaching position, on Prospect, Oregon, recently. My understanding is, he'll be keeping his home, in Royal City, while also living in Oregon, teaching. Anyway, Duane recently contacted me, about setting up a Marine Tank, in his class room. Unfortunately, as it's not strictly "Agriculture" related, the school will not be able to help with any funding. So, I figured I'd put it out there, for RF members! He's needing help setting up a tank. I'm going to contact him, and have him post, in this thread, more specifics.

I think this would be a wonderful opportunity, for us to help him teach responsible marine keeping, to his students! As far as I know, from our communications, he's also planning on doing something, out in the school's green house. However, I think that project will be freshwater related.

Thanks for reading this and I hope we can all come together, to help with this noble endeavor!!

I have that 75 peninsula that I cracked at teh bulkhead. I can easily patched that for safety. The tank hold water still so it is no biggie.

Things down in Oregon are a bit busy. Thank you Returnofsid I am teaching the following classes, Intro to Agriculture, Animal Science, Horticulture, and Welding. I teach in a small school with just over 200 in k-12. The school is pushing to develop programs for the kids, this gets me excited because today most schools are cutting programs. I am trying to get each of my classes a project that is unusual. How many classrooms have reefs in them? I am also trying to work with OR fish and Wildlife to raise fish in the greenhouse. I am starting a horticulture class and doing plant sales throughout the year. This school has not had a plant sale before to my knowledge. The welding classes will be doing project for the community as they come up like making gates or fixing equipment. My love is in plants and animals and the reef I believe is the connection between the two. I will be doing genetics with the kids as I find equipment to use. I am hoping that I will be able to scrounge around and beg for all the equipment to get a softy tank going. If you have any ideas for the classroom please email me at [email protected] I will be asking Returnofsid to gather any equipment for me and when I return I will meet up with him. If you are on the west side I might have my folks be a drop off point. If you need a tax deduction the school is a nonprofit and they can write a receipt. I wanted to take this time to thank all of you that helped me get into the hobby. Thank you all.
