Light Bulb Disposal

I've got several used light bulbs (MH and T12s) that I need to dispose of. I'd light to bring these to a facility that handles them properly and not just put them in the trash. Does anyone know where such a place is? I live in the north end (Everett, WA).

most local refuse facilities have a hazmat area which I think should be able to handle that.

Tom is correct. Most dumps should be able to deal with them. Don't go to a transfer station though.

Incandescent bulbs dont IIRC but anything flo or MH does.

LOL Okay, what's IIRC? What about the household Compact Fluorescent bulbs that replace incadescent bulbs? I use those throughout most of my home....and in my refugium...lol.

They have mercury in them. Granted it's a tiny amount, but you're not supposed to toss them in the trash.

I want to say that pc's have chemicals in them as well. i'm in the same boat I use them on my tank and in my house.

I believe you can take them to the Waste Transfer Station out on Airport.

Pc's, T5, VHO, compact flourescence and MH all have mercury in them I believe.

Although you are advised to take them to your local haz mat collection point, you are allowed to just throw them in your trash. Unfortunately for the environment, people can throw away in their trash cans any type of chemicals/hazardous materials or anything. You are exempt from any commercial law governing the type of materials that may be thrown away.

In the Seattle area I know that Bartell's will take your PC's and IKEA also has a area in the parking garage where you can drop them off.

King county and probably snohomish county have frequent collection dates where you can drop off all your hazmat stuff. Traveling locations.
