Im trying to find a good light to place in one of the compartments in the back of my 24G nano. Im trying to provide a sufficient light source for my chaeto. Anyone that can help find a light that will work for around 20 bucks would be greatly appreciated. I would also like it to plug in so that i may set it on a timer. Also thinking one that I can sumberge would probably be best.

is the back of your tank clear? Meaning if the back side of the compartment you are placing the cheato in is clear, you can light it from out side the tank. I did this when I had a Seaclear all-in-one. Here's a pic:

I mounted a PC sunlight desktop fixture to the back of my stand to light the fuge section.

It's a jbj 24 gallon but I think the black is blacked out. I don't remember but its backed up against the wall now.

It may just be a type of black vinyl tape. At least that was what they used on the Aquapods. If this is the case, you can just cut out the area you want to light up and light it from outside as suggested.

Give me a sec and I'll fetch you a picture of what is used on the aquapod. Until tearing it apart to DIY it, I never realized it wasn't plastic or painted. :)

Here's where I started to peel it up

Here's the whole thing removed

May not be the same with the JBJ nano cube, but if it is, then just cutting out a small section and lighting that area from the back could be an option. They actually sell some nano's with a light attached to the back of the tank to light the fuge section. :)

Would the blue light in the link above work as good as the white light. Or should i go with the white one? After inspection the nano does have tape that blocks out the back but because its backed up to a wall i would have to purchase a light either way. Think i would rather have one in the tank as apposed to out of it.
