It would be good for a reference, as in installing new lamps & comparing the new readings to old readings, etc. for the price unless you want to get into the buks.

Scooty,

What does the "buks" get me that this model would not??

it mainly would be used for a periodic check of PAR values.

I've got the Apogee Quantum meter...it's pretty cool. I did some digging and found that it's spectral reponse for bluer light can be off, but it's definitely a good meter for getting fairly accurate PPFD readings of PAR. Certainly not cheap compared to the device you originally asked about ($300), but it will set you back much less than the Li-Cor meter.

Scooty,

You are killing me with all the reading. :D :D

Reminds me of the days of college when had to read couple of chapters a day for biology.

Will start reading tomorrow and chime in if I have any questions.

thanks again
Kirk

Scooty,

OK, what the heck is a footcandle? Some units measure in Lux and footcandles??

No, that is new to me too...candle power, footcandle...when it comes to flashlights, I just put batteries in and want a light to shine...LOL...

Ii is a measurement in a foot of radius, just another mathematical way to measure light, I think photographers use this most.
