Tell me if this theory has any merit...

I have a 75G with PC lighting (4-65w, 10,000K & actinic), I would like to get into some SPS but can afford to upgrade to MH, yet. I have access to a 24", T5 fixture (at a really good price) that would cover one side of the tank.

My question is: Would adding that fixture provide appropriate lighting for SPS in that area of the tank? or wouldn't it make much difference...

Thanks, I'm still learning :) , T

It would help. Under proper conditions you could keep SPS. Read through some threads in anthony calfo section. Lighting is often over emphasized with SPS. While proper flow, and nutrients are need more and rarely given.

Well, you arent giving us any data at all.

If its an 8 bulb HO t5 setup with proper reflectors, then sure, you could keep any coral or clam on earth under it.

But if its a NO t5 with a couple bulbs and the typical useless reflectors you get, then it could be a whole different story.

Gona need a little data on reflectors and ballasts.

ya, reflectors are key in determining light, but you probably will especially if you use the pc on that side along with the t-5, but ya more info on the t-5 stuff
