Help, I have lighting equipment that I don't know how to use. I have two different 175 watt ballasts. One says AF175WD MH A on the bottom and the other AF175WS MH A. Is D for more than one bulb and S one? The reflector has two sockets for MH bulbs and places for two 48" actinics. I don't see any type of wattage rating on the sockets. Can any size be used? The plugs from this include the male matching the ballast's female and another wire with a 9 pin plug. I don't know what the 9 pin is for. I also I didn't follow the wires to see how the actinics are powered. I'm not terribly well versed in lighting and any input would be appreciated.

Thanks, Rich

Well the only thing I can dig up for the model numbers are they are Energy Savers Unlimited ballasts. I haven't been able to find any specifics yet. I'm still looking.. The sockets are probably mogel sockets for SE (Single Ended Metal Halide). Let me look around some more to see if I can find anything else out.

Thanks for the input. I'll check into the website. I thought alot of this was standard between companies. I also thought that you needed a different ballast for each bulb. The ballast with the D on it is bigger and I was thinking it actually had a couple of ballasts in one box. Is this correct thinking?

It might very well be a dual bulb type ballast, but with having any kind of directions etc. that's just assumption.

Energy savers seems to be a company that provides a mass of products, these light fixtures are part of that group & who knows the real manufacturer unless it stated it on the ballast itself. These look like a duel 175w combo & the other a single like you said this is a best guess. I see here at champion lighting they have some, so do they look like the ones in this link?

If so I'd call them & ask for some more information, I think they would help you get more product information on them.
