on my 110 with live rock and fish how long should I have the lights on and in what order.I have 2-54watt actinics,2-10,000 K and the light over the refuge which will have chatos in it

i don't try to mimic dusk and dawn..i just turn them all on and off at the same time..the light over the refuge should be opposite the daylight cycle on your tank

It all depends on what works best for you.:) Some like the dusk to dawn effect which will give you just actinics by themselves for an hour or two in the morning before the 10K's come on to allow the fish time to adjust to the light and then in the evening, the same thing with the 10K's going off and the actinics on by themselves for an hour or two. Then some, just go full blast in the morning and then all lights out at night which IMO, doesn't seem to harm anything either, but totally up to your liking. As for the fuge, it all depends on what you are keeping in there and what you are trying to accomplish. Some will do an alternate photo period from the main display tank to cut back on heat and electricity as well as help maintain a constant ph throughout the day. Whereas some, will run their fuge's lighting 24/7 when keeping certain macro algaes like caulerpa so that again is up to you. No one right way to go about things really...:)

Oh yeah, photoperiod...I'd say anywhere from 8-12 hours a day:)
