I have two 250 watt mh bulbs with spider reflectors. The reflectors are suppose to be 13" wide according to the online sales info, however the set that came with my 125g have been bent to about 15" wide. I would like to install 2 4" actinic T5HO bulbs with the mh. To do this I will need to keep the mh reflector to 13", giving me the back two inches and front two inches for the actinics. I'm considering using wire to hold the reflectors to size by wiring the holes on each side to the other side, if that makes sense. I'm not sure how much light will reach the tank since the mh reflector will extend much closer to the water than the T5, blocking some of the reflected light from the T5. Would the lighting be better if I put both actinics to the front with the mh to the back? Do I need to install some sort of extender to have the T5 sit closer to the water instead of being screwed into the top of the canopy? All suggestions are welcome!
