I just want to understand that if I have a power outage for a long period of time, I need to supply the tank with oxygen and try to keep the temp near where is should normally be? Are those the 2 most important factors I need to deal with?

Also does anyone know about these things called inverters???? I am not sure if that is the right word for them.

Water flow and temp are your important factors. I do not know about inverters. I have a couple of generators I use, a large one during the day that can run my tanks as normal and a small one at night (it is quieter so I can sleep) that I use to run heaters and selected pumps (I have 3 tanks).

I do not know what area you are from. But many of us in western Washington went days without power last fall/winter ( November?) after a big windstorm. If you do a search and look for some of the discussion threads from when we were going through this, you can get many ideas (some were very ingenious) to keep your tank alive during a power outage.
