I was wondering approx. how many bulbs i would need if i use 36" 39w T-5HO in a 150 gallon tank? The dims to the tank are approx. 6' long x 18" deep x 20+" tall. I am not exactly sure on the height. I will be having some corals, LR; a basic reef tank. Can anyone give me an idea on how many bulbs I will need. I am going to build the fixtue in the canopy.

A 150 like you describe is 28" deep. IMO you cannot get many photosynthetic corals to grow below 12" down with that type of light.
