Im sure somebody somewhere has done it. I have a venturi skimmer and i was wondering if anybody would know if adding a limewood block to the mixing chamber have any benifet or would it be detrimental to the bubbles?

Yea it would add more fine bubbles to your skimmer but the problem with wood diffusers is that they dont last long, maybe a few weeks?? Their are some nice heat bonded ceramic diffusers out their perhaps take a look for those.
