live cured rock

I am visiting Orlando, FL in a few weeks. I have researched on-line and found a couple of stores. Price for live cured rock in my town is $10/pd. Would it be good idea for me to stock up on rock when I go to FL (cheaper???) - good quality?? Safe for travel?? Thanks!

Yea I think buying direct would save you money, they usually have these Styrofoam boxes that they will give you if you get enough rocks, have them wrap them in newspaper & wet it down, should be good for days, try & keep the temp. as normal as you can, don't leave in hot sun etc.

Heck, just like buying from a Fl. supplier online minus the shipping. I'd make sure and contact a few of the online sources ahead of time and make sure they allow "walk-ins."

Ive done it with a vendor from LA $3.50 pound hand picked remember if your flying 40 pounds per bag and 2 bags per person before they charge you a fee

Welcome to RF! I say go for it as well...One less pair of hands for it to pass through, plus you may be able to pick out your own pieces of LR rather than receiving rubble and odd shape pieces that make aquascaping a nightmare
