Hi guys. I'm new to the hobby and cant wait to get started. Buying a tank today (75gal) wich comes with about 75 lbs of live rock and 50 lbs of sand and was wondering the best way to keep the live rock and sand bed alive over the weekend? Can I just leave it in buckets with a powerhead for circulation? Cover with newspaper? Can it survive on it's own for four days without needing to do anything?

I'm going away for the weekend but I want to buff out any of the scratches in the tank before I set it up and also refinish the stand. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Buy a couple of rubber maid tubs, fill with salt water and store your rock in one and the sand in the other. It is a good idea to have a powerhead or two in them to keep the flow and oxygen moving around. This is how i moved my rock/sand 2 years ago and had no problems at all. HTH:)

ditto with tike, a powerhead and a heater maybe if you want to get even less die off from temp difference, aside from that i can't think of anything though i don't think a heaters that important as most sandbed things live at a wide range of temps

Ditto a second time...You are going to have to go through a cycle anyway when you set up, but by doing it this way, you may save yourself quite a bit of die-off. Best of luck man and Welcome to RF!:)
