Looking at some websites advertising LR. What is the differrence between the rocks from the different places. http://www.liverocksales.com/index.htm#OurProduct

This site advertises quaried aragonite that is cultured off shore. Does this have the same filtering effect as LR that is from the S. Pacific?

It really depends who you ask.it is heavyier than natural live rock and nowhere near as porious either. i have a few pieces in my reef. but i prefer my wild stuff

Quarried rock is basically ancient reefs that have been on land for centurys.
Pros; Has a tone of life on it, as in algaes, worms and crabs (if that is what you like) cheaper
Cons; heavy, dence (not as good at filtration), having been exposed to weather it usually has higher nutrients.
