this may sound like a stupid question but how do you put this live sand into your tank do you
a / pour into the tank straight from the bag
b / use your net and leave the water thats in the bag in the bag
going to get some at the weekend but always woundered how to use it :)

I use a large bowl filled with the sand and lower the bowl to the bottom and carefully pour it out. Some use a very large funnel and hose setup.

live sand

thats good so its safe to do that straight from the bag.
just had a look at your pics very nice set up.
thanks for your help. mark

I do it this way

I usually set the whole bag in the tank than slit it down the middle with a razor blade and down both sides and then flip it over and let it out.

do not forgett to shut off your filters and protein skimmers or any pumps before pouring in the sand ,if not the sand might get sucked in the impellers and damage it. i would not put the bag in the tank, you do not know if the bag is clean. most pet stores use insecticide and if ,it might have gotten on the bags and it would get in your tank . just cut the bag and pour it in a small container and lower it in your tank. good luck . jakleen
