Hi Everyone!

Well I am finally home after my 75 days in the desert. I can't believe how much growth there is in my little tank. Although much of it is over grown due to lack of pruning. I wanted to share a before I left picture and after returing home picture. Tomorrow I will start to clean the tank and share another pic when it is done..... Just shows how much can happen in a relatively short time....

Welcome back Greg. That really is a lot of growth. Good to see the tank fared well while you were gone.

That is just flat awesome Greg. I bet your jaw dropped when you saw it for the first time when you came back. Looks like you have a pretty good person behind you, taking care of things while you were gone. Congrats.

Thanks for the warm welcome home! :)
I really wish that this site wasn't blocked by the firewall while I was gone.... Anyway, what has really impressed me about the amount of growth is that the water quality has been less than optimal since I was away. Alk has been a little on the low side and the protein skimmer hasn't been working to its full potential. I am sure the Xenia loved that which explains them taking over the tank. lol Even one of my acro's that had baby blue tips when it was purchased almost a year has finally started to grow and has gotten its nice blue color back. I did move its location before I left which could explain it. But overall I am wondering if the excellent water quality we strive to obtain is maybe just a little to perfect.... Hmmmm.

Greg,
DonW explained a while back after removing his Filter sock the animals seem to thrive in his tank. I removed my Protein Skimmer for a short time last week. I believe the excess of organics and phospates fed my corals. I believe my My Frogspawn and Branching hammer extended more. Is this good , I hope so. My tank still seems to be stable. I also agree that too much clean is not good. Your corals need the Zooanthelle, are we preventing this by overskimming or other filter media?
I also want to ask you to say thanks to your better half. She has done well with your Tank while you were gone. I am glad you are back. I miss your conversations at meetings. I had a store order to pick up in Spokane or I would have stayed longer. Your tank looks great Greg. Its nice to see what others have been bragging about for good reason.

i was just lookin at your tank pic from Feb 20th and is it ever flourishing!!! where's the firefish??? still in there??? lovem to death those little firefish.

Thanks Ed!

At the last meeting I wasn't very talkative. I was still tired from the long trip.....Sorry. Well I am hoping to get the tank cleaned of the excess halmidiea and Xenia today. After the lesson about the water quality I may set the skimmer to only pull the dry stuff. My skimmer wasn't pulling anything for a couple weeks due to the pump intake being clogged. I guess it was a fortunate happening. Another note worthy topic about the water quality would have to be the long length of time in between water changes. It has been 80 days since the last one. Maybe some furher research into aquarium water quality is warrented......

Hiromi was talking about making a trip down to your meeting this week. Times and directions would be appreciated....Thanks!

Wrassehole,

I still have the firefish. They are very skittish and only come out to feed. I wonder if it is due to the clown fish. He is very teritorial. The wife is pushing me to get the 375 gallon going as soon as we can. :) Once set up I'll move all the inhabitants to that tank except the clown. I will purchase an anemone for him and leave him in the 25gal.

Kevin,

Thanks! I should be there later this afternoon...... :)

the wife is pushing you to get a larger tank???!!!!!!! you lucky little..... Hey, R/C Man have you ever seen the show " Trading Spouses"?

BTW. I had a wacky idea you might be interested in. maybe not. Ive always thought of designing a remote control little car that's attached to my Magfloat, so my lazy ass could clean the glass from the couch. whaddya think. Am i retarded or what??

Wrassehole,

"Trading Spouses" LOL :p Sorry I am keeping mine....

Hiromi goes to the club meetings with me and she really likes all the space the larger tanks have. Your right, lucky me! I had the metal stand built for the 375gal right before I left back in August. Now that I am home I am looking to get the tank built soon. X-mass would be a good goal I think. The down fall is money. I want to have an aquacontroller running everything an 8 way oceansmotions for the closed loop a 100gal sump ect ect... So it will be a piece together project.

You know that RC thing would probably work. It wouldn't be very accurate but..... lol

Keep those wheels turning... You never know what you could come up with....

Hey Everyone!

Well I have done some pruning. I still need to get rid of some more xenia as well as some halmidea. I just didn't want to remove it all at once. I sure it will have an effect on the inhabitants..... Here is another pic....

My clowns totally harass my firefish.
I dont know how he has stayed alive for the past year.
I have the 3 of them in a 45 with an anemone at the resturant.
I plan on putting him in the 150 when it gets up and running.
Poor little guy. :(

Bigger tank means more space to fill! Woo Hoo!

Mauisreef,
