Does anyone fill their sumps full of live rock, I have been thinking about adding Live Rock to my sump to add as an extra filter system. Currently I have an empty sump that I clean out during water changes.

I think the new tought process is to keep the rock out of the sump because of the deitris (sp) problem with it. I just removed all of mine and my nitrates dropped.

yeah that is what I am currently doing, but I was wondering because my chiller runs closed loop in the sump so the current is strong

Paul Hamby does I also have some in mine . I imagine if we put tons of live rock in a sump and the sump was large enoughp to keep the rock clean we could have alot less in the tank ?

I have 100lbs of LR in DT for LPS and hidding places for fish and others, I also have 100lbs of LR in 1 of my chambers in my 70gal sump. It works great for me. I would recommend LR in sump if you have room in sump (multiple chambers) to isolate LR from other equip / water prcocesses.

I have a 100 gallon rubbermaid tub filled about 60% full with water, I use it for my chiller, heaters, and water evap. I added some live rock and may add some more later
