LS urchin trimmed my orange cap!

My long spined urchin normally is on his best behavior. But the other day he did this:

and on the other side:

Not alot of damage- just trimmed along the edge.
I've seen him catch and eat mysis when I was feeding the fish before but I never imagined him eating coral!
Anyone have this problem before?

Hi Debbie I had one develop a great taste for my Calf Tort
After catching It eating on that I transferred it to my LPS, Softie tank thats just full of coralline algie And we have both Been very happy and yes the tort is growing back just fine

Debbie - mine hasn't eaten my coral, unless it was in the path on the way to more algae.
