doe s anyone know of any really good ways of getting rid of hair algae.its on like everyrock in my tank cause i didnt take care of it from the get go, any good tips would help alot

Can you give any info regarding tank like size, parameters, equipment and if you are using tap water or RO/DI?

sure 75gal with 20gal sump parameters are all good. water used is ro/di. was using a coral life protein skimmer then changed over to a euro reef cs-100

algaefix will temporarily provide a fix, not a permament solution to the problem.

for HA to grow, it needs nutrients and light..

soooo, here come the questions :D :

when is the last time you changed your lights?
what is the nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, phosphate and Mg levels?
what is the pH level.
do you use sand, if so, what kind and how many inches thick is it.
do you use a RO/DI unit?
what type of filtration do you use?
how much "gunk" is being pulled out of your skimmer a week...

depending on the severity of HA on the rock, you might have to manually pull it off, otherwise, it will take forever to go away on its on.

bottom line, there is not a panacea to your problem and this will take alot of time to solve..first, need to identify the problem, then you can start to fix the problem..

I've been battling HA and bryopsis for almost a year, and had to call in some professional help..several problems were identified, and fixes are now in place..it has been 3 weeks and no more HA on the sides of my tank, unfortunately is still on live rock and I might be pulling out all LR and buying new cured LR.

What's your Bioload (how many fish and what types)? Also when was the last time you tested your RO/DI water for TDS? Are you running a refugium at all in your sump or a HOB? Sorry for all the questions it just makes it easier to give suggestions :)

Ur parameters aren't all good if your tank is full of HA :D

I'm sure its a nitrate or phosphate prob.....

U really need to provide all your equipment your using, how you feed, what kind of flow, do you have a dsb, what all is living in your tank....etc

I'd use a phosban reactor and 25% water changes twice a week with RO/DI water. Make sure the RO/DI water reads 0 on a TDS meter. Manual removal helps too. I also have a tomini tang and they love hair algae. Some turbo snails may help too.
