I have 4 Maxi-Jet 1200's in my tank...and my stupid suction cups won't hold and they keep falling off my tank wall and messing up my substrate!

Has anyone been successful mounting a powerful magnet to a Maxi-Jet to secure it via another magnet on the outside of the tank? Does anyone know where one might buy hobby type magnets in the Seattle area? I think there may be some online kits, but they are like $50, and I have a feeling I could do it for much cheaper on my own.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I come home to another fallen powerhead, I am going to break something.

I have one...I can post a picture of later, but that thing is really strong!! When it says it can support a Seio or Tunze, believe it! That maxi jet is a joke on it and the magnet is really low profile. I'll get those pics later when I get home for you:)

The ones Krish is talking about are really really nice. They are worth the money. I have a Tunze mounted with one, and I also have a maxijet with another. They definately make life so much easier.

Here is a cheap $6 solution. You can even get the magnets with colored plastic covers for the outside.
These aren't my pictures but I did this about a year ago or so and they are still holding just fine.

No rust? What type of magnets?

Thanks
Don

They are ceramic magnets. No rust.
You can get them at Home Depot or Lowes or on-line.
I saw a bunch at Tacoma Screw that had 5-6 different color plastic caps on them.

this is gonna be my next investment, altho i have had good luck with the sution cups, when they come off, its time to clean em, (witch sucks)

but im gonna do that, get magnets glue, em i think i have 2 brackets for the maxi in boxs, ill glue them let em dry, and swap em, i might loose some corraline and spongs.

Finn, I thought the ones from home depot are not strong enough so you made another one with the neodymium magnets.

Krish75, do you have a link where you bought the magnets.

Thanks
KC

The ones I used with the neodymium magnets were for the seio 1500. The 2"x1" ceramic magnets were fine for the maxi-jets, but the weight and torque of the seios, well I just didn't trust the ceramic magnets to hold. Plus the glass on my 180 where the seios are was 1/2" glass. Didn't even try the smaller magnets on it.
