I know this system is new to the US, but is there anyone out there who's looked into it? I've been researching possible replacements for my current MH/PC fixture on my 46g mixed reef for a while, and this setup has REALLY caught my eye. They even seem to be pretty reasonably priced considering the features included, versatility, and the electrical/replacement bulb cost cuts over my current setup. Just wondering if anyone has an opinion?

Here is a pretty extensive thread:

I looked into them pretty good before deciding to go with the Ai Sol Super Blue instead. What really turned me off to the whole thing was the fact all the wires that were on the final production model. Also the AI sol has better PAR rating from what I have gathered and a slightly larger coverage area at ~ 24"x24" per module

sorry scooterman...wasn't trying to advertise...was just trying to show the different packages available from the manufacturer that retailers are carrying, not specifically the pricing or who was carrying them. believe me...if a local forum sponsor was carrying these lights, i'd be running right over to check them out in person!

Really? That's good to know! I know I've seen AI in there and have seen their recent likes regarding Acan lighting on here since SeaMax, but had no idea they carried Maxspect. I'd planned on asking if it was something they'd be able to special order if this was the route I decided to take. Thanks Skimmy!

Akunochi - what all is there wires-wise? Of course all product photos have them completely wrangled. My best guess on the wire count would be one per led unit and one for the controller for power, then one from the controller to a single led unit (with the rest being wirelessly controlled). Does AI cut down on the number of wires, or are they easier to conceal with AI fixtures?

I ordered the Quad Mazzara lighting system in advance and plan on having it by Mid August. If you saw the system at Seamax it was a prototype. There are a few adjustments made on model coming out. The model displayed did not have full brace or clips installed to hide wires, brackets on side of tank will be different also. I plan on showing mine so if you in the South Eastern part of Wa give me a buzz! I was a metal halide guy until I was proven differently.

I completely missed them at SeaMax, who had them set up? How did you end up proven differently, Ed? I'd love to hear any points that prompted you to convert! I'm looking at the double and triple setups... I know the recommendation is to go with one per foot of tank, but then they come with the different lenses to customize the lighting footprint. If I do go for these, I'll probably end up with the triple, just because I'd be covered if I decided to up my tank size a bit.

I love to see some pics when you get all set up! I'm not normally around the Tri-Cities area, but will be heading for Idaho and back around Labor Day and could certainly make a detour if you were open to a tank gawker stopping by for a few...

Hello Charly,
The US distributor for Maxspect allowed us Midcolumbia Saltwater Aquarium Club to display his lighting system in our booth at Seamax displaying the coral frags for sale. It was recommended I go with 4 units to ultimately cover all my 30 by 30 by 24 inch tall cube. My Friend Paul Hamby has proven to me you can grow coral with Maxspect LEDs. Paul uses the Maxspect G2s.
