I have a question?

Why do we have to send cards to sponsors? Couldn't just give them Self Addressed and Stamped envolopes with the application? The mail could go to my PO Box and I would mail the memerships card to the buyer?

Im asking this because , i can't see a way to track who signed up and who is tracking the amount of cards being sold. When does the application and funds arrive? Who will the sponsor give this too?

I think we need to control the card and money, so can we change the way we do this?

I think we do this so that the person buying the membership at the lfs can start taking advantage of the discount right away.

Kris,
I assumed that.

Being from a military family and serving myself, I just like organize locations and data control.

Most other organizations will not allow you to get a discount on the first visit. They are trying to get you back into the store.

Why can't we do the same? Give the sponsor a pre-stamped & addressed envelope with an application inside. The new member could just write a check and mail to the treasurer. It makes easier to maintain a detailed record.

my 1 fenning!

I think the addressed and stamped envelope is a good idea either way, but think allowing the card to be given at the LFS will probably mean more memberships. If they get the discount on the spot they may buy the card but if they have to take home and mail the application they may change their mind.

Providing the envelope will likely mean we get the apps rather quickly, I think the current process is for someone to stop by and pick them up.

Good idea.

Can the other baord member shime in on this?
I have printed new appplications and need to know about the envelopes. We only have a week to get it ready.

Thanks
Bob

AFAIK. The LFS have new members fill out the apps on the spot before recieving a card. Then, the LFS mails the apps and the money to the club member responsible for the moneys. IMO adding double envelopes, stamps and mailings adds too much complication to the process. Also, more work for the BOD members.

Remember, this is supposed to be a fun club with volunteers taking care of this stuff behind the scenes. If it becomes too much like a second job noone is going to be willinig to take on these tasks in the years to come. We are lucky to have six BOD members this year. In the last two years there has only been two or three members to do everything.
I dont think its safe to assume that there will be a full regime of BOD members to deal with alot of small details in the years to come. Especially with hobbiests selling off tanks like crazy in these tough times.

I agree with Trido on this one. Personally speaking, this is too much of overhead for our members and the fact they'll not buy membership if they don't get instant gratification (discount i.e.).

Please check the stores you visit frequently to see if they've sold any membership card and collect the money.
