Mesh mod question

Does a mesh mod improve the performance of any pump, not just a skimmer pump? Like a return pump from sump back to main tank? I have a sheet of enkamat, and was wondering if i could put some of it to better use than just sitting on a shelf. Thanks!

well, probably not...just stick to using it for skimmer pumps.
i have seen it increase water flow on a couple occasions, but usually not.

Mesh is bad for return as it doesn't handle the pressure like the original impeller blades do. One is used for chopping up and the other for flow.
