Good day to you all,

I have been looking at the lighting options for my 130 gal for a while now and after looking at everything out there I just can’t get away from the mh/t5 hybrid.

My question is for a tank that is 72” long x 18” wide x 24” deep would 150 hqi or 250 hqi bulbs be better. I know that the 250s would have more penetrating power but are they worth the extra or would I be ok with the 150s.

Either way I am looking at doing 2 30” fixtures with everything all in one no retrofits.

Any info anyone has would be helpful.

Thanks again everyone

Seems like a 24" deep tank you will need the 250's, unless your not much into corals or wanting to limit what you can keep, also you can locate corals higher but might limit the amount of growth. I'd personally go 250,s but that is just my opinion.

Idk if its to late to suggest it.. but Mh is a old school dieing technology.. i was Mh for a long long time..

leds are so much better now.. and you dont have to spend the amount of money on the big box brands that everyone says you have to buy,

https://www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Gal...rd_wg=JtXEC&psc=1&refRID=G299CTPKSVZZEX9ZC1EH

what you will spend in light bulbs in 2 years you can buy 3 of these...

I heard that leds are better as well and it is cheaper. I recently started fish keeping. Any extra advice for me?
