Mh Hanging

I bought a MH retrofit. SOOOO I'm going to need a way to hang it over my tank.. I can't do it from the ceiling is there any DIY kind of hanging kit I can make. Or will I have to make a sort of guillotine to hang it from?

I am having to build a hood for my tank. I am doing the same thing you are with the retrofit type.

You can buy conduit and a conduit bender and bend it to however you want. Then just mount it to your stand.

Would anyone recommend anything different? I need like a guide lol.. Cause I have a big HoB Skimmer with about 1/2 inch of clearance between the skimmer and tank

Can you screw into the wall? Maybe just a metal shelf bracket from lowes. Retro reflectors dont weigh anything so doesnt need to be heavy duty.

I should look into that, the tank is about.. I'd say from wall the front of tank about twenty-22 inches. I wonder if they make L brackets that far out haha

That means you only need about a 12" bracket. They are only 2 bucks or so each. Wont hurt to try.

What does your fixture look like? Look at the pictures of the hanging kit that these folks used in their build. Check out the pics on pages 1 and 7. They anchored the wire for hanging the fixture to the wall above the tank and then used standoffs to position the fixture over the center of the tank. Looks very clean and contemporary and you can find that hardware at Home Depot or Lowes.
