hey all

I came home today and noticed that my MH light was a little lower then usual. I shut it off and left it for a while to cool off thinking that it might just need a little rest time but when I went to turn it back on I get nothing but a small flicker in the bulb and thats it.

I am wondering if this is the bulb or I dare not say it but the ballast. I am wondering if anyone else has any idea what I should do because if its the bulb I will get a new one but if its the ballast I mine as well get a new t5 fixture for the same cash.

Any thoughts

It is the bulb. The igniter gas in the bulb is almost gone where they bond to the starter. The igniter gas is what start up first to heat up the lamp so that the metal halide gas can start to light.

You need a new bulb. I am having the same problem and just purchase some XM bulb, but it is not lighting up. I put a different brand of light in and it light up right away. I am current working with XM to see why those new lights are not lighting up. It could been a bad batch where the igniter gas could have been low when they make them.
