I have just fired up my new tank and am having a problem with microbubbles from the skimmer getting into the main tank. I know eventually the skimmer will bed in and the problem will go away. My question is, in the meantime will the microbubbles be harmfull to the tank inhabitants when i put them in?

Do you have a shot of the skimmer sitting in the sump? We may be able to solve your issue with bubbles getting back into the tank. Also, in the meantime if you can, put an elbow (90 degree adaptor) on the suction of your return pump and point it down towards the bottom of the sump. Bubbles rise so the lower you can suck water from the less chance you have of picking them up.

As for it causing any problems, I've read where people said it irritates the fish's gills, but not 100% sure if that is a fact. :)

I had microbubbles get in from my tank by a loose connection in my return line at the bulkhead. And tou can try a large holed (cant remember the proper term) filter sponge. To trap and disolve bubbles. And if the fish eat the bubbles they can start floting.

It's more the fish that conserns me. It's not as if there's masses of the bubbles and as the skimmer beds in they seem to be getting less. Just worried about the affect on the fish
